Sea kayak
Sea kayak

The construction of this kayak used mainly traditional lashing techniques with restrictied use of glue and no metal parts. White oak ribs were steam bent and the frame covered in painted canvas.

It is very fast on the water, and quite agile and has acceptable stability. Not for novice use.

frame constuction in progress

The use of artificial sinue lashings produed a very strong and ridged hull. The hul shape is based on a West Greenland kayak (Igdlorssuit vessel) constructed in 1959, the upper deck is a more modern design.
